About recallau

What is recallau?

recallau is Australia's comprehensive recall database — unifying four government recall sources into a single, searchable platform. Instead of checking four separate government websites, search once and find recalls across vehicles, consumer products, food, and therapeutic goods.

Data sources

  • Vehicle recalls vehiclerecalls.gov.au (Australian Government). Cars, motorcycles, trucks, trailers, caravans. Includes VIN-level lookup.
  • Product recalls productsafety.gov.au (ACCC). Consumer products across 14 categories — from baby products to electrical goods. 8,100+ recalls indexed.
  • Food recalls foodstandards.gov.au (FSANZ). Allergen contamination, microbial hazards, foreign matter, chemical contamination.
  • Therapeutic goods tga.gov.au (TGA). Medicine and medical device recalls. Integration in progress.

Data is synced daily via automated scrapers and RSS feeds.

How it works

  1. Search by VIN, product name, brand, or keyword
  2. Filter by recall type — vehicle, product, food, or medicine
  3. Browse by make, category, or date
  4. Register (free) and save vehicles for automatic recall alerts

Built by

recallau is built and maintained by Off The Ground Agency, an Australian civic technology lab. recallau is part of the OTG Civic Tech Suite — five platforms covering government procurement, public health, housing affordability, aviation safety, and consumer protection.

Disclaimer

recallau is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Australian Government. This is an independent third-party service. While we strive to keep our data accurate and up-to-date, always verify recall information with the official source or the relevant manufacturer/supplier.
