2018–2022 HYUNDAI Ioniq EV (AE)

A software issue in the Battery Management System (BMS) may cause an electrical short circuit while charging or parked leading to a vehicle fire.

2018–2023 HYUNDAI Kona EV (OS)

A software issue in the Battery Management System (BMS) may cause an electrical short circuit while charging or parked leading to a vehicle fire.

2022–2024 HYUNDAI Ioniq 6 (CE)

The affected vehicles charging port door panel may misaligned due to poor adhesive application that cause the retaining hook to unlatch, resulting in the port door panel detaching from the hinge assembly whilst driving.

2020–2021 HYUNDAI i30 (PD)

Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel pump impeller may become deformed under certain environmental conditions, interrupting the fuel supply. If this occurs, the engine could stall resulting in a sudden loss of motive power.

2024–2025 HYUNDAI Inster (AX)

Due to a manufacturing defect, the retaining studs under the driver’s seat may not have a safety sealing cap installed during assembly.

2023 HYUNDAI Ioniq 5N (NE)

Due to a software issue, under certain driving conditions the Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB) system may affect the hydraulic pressure within the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). If this occurs, it could reduce braking performance and lead to longer stopping distances.

2012–2013 HYUNDAI iX35

Due to a manufacturing defect, brake fluid may leak into the Antilock Braking System (ABS) control module. This could cause an electrical short circuit leading to a vehicle engine compartment fire while parked or driving.

2016–2018 HYUNDAI iLoad (TQ-V), iMax (TQ-W)

Due to a manufacturing defect, the outer sheath of the electrical cable connecting the fuse box and alternator may deteriorate and cause the wiring to be exposed. This may lead to a short circuit resulting in a vehicle fire.

2020–2023 HYUNDAI Kona N (OS), i30 Sedan N (CN7)

Due to a manufacturing defect, the fuel control valve in the high-Pressure fuel pump could allow excess fuel to enter the pump. If this occurs, the engine could stall resulting in a sudden loss of motive power whilst driving.

2021–2024 HYUNDAI IONIQ 5 (NE) & IONIQ 6 (CE)

Due to a software issue in the Integrated Charging Control Unit, the auxiliary 12 Volt battery may not charge as intended, resulting in battery drainage and loss of motive power.

2018–2021 HYUNDAI Nexo (FE)

Due to a manufacturing defect, the glass bulb type Thermal Pressure Relief Device (TRPD) may prematurely fracture. This could lead to an inadvertent discharge of hydrogen gas leaking in confined areas. In the presence of an ignition source this can result in a fire while the vehicle is parked. Note: Affected vehicles can still be driven however the vehicle should be parked in an open space and away from flammable materials and structures, i.e. not in a garage until the pressure release device can be replaced by an authorised Hyundai dealership.

2024 HYUNDAI Santa Fe (MX5)

Due to a manufacturing issue, the airbag wiring harness under the rear passenger seat may not have been adequately secured. As a result, it may become damaged over time due to seat adjustment leading to inadvertent deployment or an inability to deploy the rear seat side airbags.

2007–2014 HYUNDAI Veloster (FS), ix35 (LM), Accent (RM), i40 (VF), Santa Fe (DM), iMax and iLoad (TQ)

Due to a manufacturing defect, brake fluid may leak into the Antilock Brake System (ABS) control module. This could cause an electrical short circuit leading to a vehicle engine compartment fire while parked or driving.

2023 HYUNDAI Palisade 3.8 GDi 3.8 GDi

Due to a manufacturing defect, under certain conditions the engine valve springs may crack. If this occurs, the engine could stall resulting in a loss of motive power.

2024 HYUNDAI Kona (SX2) and i30 Sedan (CN7) 2.0MPI

The Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) valve sensor may have been exposed to soldering flux contamination during manufacture. This could cause a short circuit within the sensor resulting in a loss of motive power whilst driving.

2021–2024 HYUNDAI IONIQ 5 (NE) & IONIQ 6 (CE)

Due to a software issue in the Integrated Charging Control Unit, the auxiliary 12 Volt battery may not charge as intended, resulting in battery drainage and loss of motive power.

2023 HYUNDAI i30 1.6T (CN7) Sedan

Due to incorrect software being installed in the vehicle, the ‘fail-safe’ mode may not operate when oil pump faults are detected in the dual clutch transmission. If this occurs it may lead to a sudden loss of motive power.

2023 HYUNDAI IONIQ 5 (NE) & IONIQ 6 (CE)

Due to a manufacturing issue, the driveshaft may brake under load. If this occurs, it may lead to a sudden loss of motive power.

2023 HYUNDAI Kona (SX2) SX2 1.6 T-GDI

Due to a manufacturing defect, the bracket retaining the engine control unit could interfere with the vehicle’s wiring in the event of a collision, causing a short circuit resulting in a vehicle fire.

2009–2011 HYUNDAI i30 (FD) & Elantra (HD)

The driver's airbag inflator may rupture in the event of airbag deployment.

2018–2021 HYUNDAI NEXO (FE)

Due to a manufacturing defect, the hydrogen gas detection sensors may deteriorate over time. This may lead to a failure to detect gas leaks and illuminate the warning light to the operator/driver.

2020–2022 HYUNDAI i30 Sedan (CN7)

2021 HYUNDAI Santa Fe (TM)

2017–2018 HYUNDAI Tucson (TL) 2.0 DSL

Due to a manufacturing issue, the connector to the Heater Core may overheat due to a faulty electrical connection. This may cause excess heat in the connection. If this occurs it may result in a vehicle fire.

2021–2022 HYUNDAI Ioniq 5 (NE)

Due to a software issue with the Shift Control Unit (SCU), the parking pawl (P) may fail. This could result in vehicle moving or rolling away whilst engaged in park position.

2021 HYUNDAI Santa Fe (TM) TM 2.2DSL

The vehicle’s LCD instrument cluster screen may show an inverted image as a result of voltage fluctuations when operating at extremely low ambient temperatures, due to a discrepancy with internal resistors.

2016–2021 HYUNDAI QT-1, QT-2 and QT-3

Due to a wiring issue with the airbag system, the airbag may not deploy as intended.

2019–2021 HYUNDAI QT-2 EX-8

Due to a manufacturing issue, the brake tube may become damaged and cause a brake fluid leak. This may result in a reduction in braking performance.

2017–2019 HYUNDAI Ioniq Ioniq EV

Under certain driving condition the vehicle fail-safe mode may be activated. If this occurs the EV ready lamp will flash accompanied with reduced acceleration and a loss of motive power. In addition, there is a risk of an unintended acceleration following full accelerator pedal release.

2014–2016 HYUNDAI Sonata (LF)

Due to a software issue with the Smart Junction Box (SJB) the turn signal may activate in the opposite direction from what the driver intended.

2021 HYUNDAI Palisade (LX2)

Due to a manufacturing issue, the brake fluid may be contaminated. This can cause the master cylinder inner cup seal to expand resulting in a reduced braking performance.

2018–2020 HYUNDAI KONA, VELOSTER

The piston rings assembled in engines may be defective, which can cause damage to the piston rings and cylinder bore.

2019–2020 HYUNDAI Ioniq Ioniq EV

Due to a manufacturing defect, the battery does not meet specifications and may lead to an electrical short which could start a fire.

2021 HYUNDAI Santa Fe 3.5MPi

The fuel supply pipe attached to engines may be defective, which may result in a fuel leak.

2021 HYUNDAI GENESIS G80 (RG3) and GV80 (JX1) with 2.5T GDI Engines

The fuel delivery pipes on the 2.5T GDI engines may be defective and fuel may leak out of the pipes.

The vehicle's wheel nuts may not have been tightened correctly, which may cause the wheels to become loose and risk falling off.

2009–2012 HYUNDAI IX35

Oil may leak through the seal surrounding the engine oil sump. Prolonged oil leakage may result in engine damage and sudden stalling at high speed.

2012–2013 HYUNDAI VELOSTER

The software installed on the engine management unit (ECU) may cause premature ignition, that can result in the engine stalling and with the possibility of a fire.

2018 HYUNDAI i30

Certain batches of sunroof motors had incorrect software installed and may not have an automatic safety stop function. When the sunroof is closing, it will not automatically stop when it is obstructed.

2018 HYUNDAI KONA 1.6T

During assembly the vehicles may not have had the front brake tube fitted correctly. The tube may come in contact with the exhaust system and the braking performance could be compromised. In addition, a fire could result.

2018 HYUNDAI iMAX & iLOAD

In some vehicles, the locking mechanism on the rear sliding door may be defective and unable to hold the door open. When the vehicle is at a forward incline, the holding mechanism may fail, resulting in the door sliding forward and slamming shut.

2018 HYUNDAI SANTA FE

Protrusion of the curtain airbag mounting bolt may interfere with airbag fabric in the event of deployment. Some vehicles may experience rear side, curtain airbag cushion damage when the airbag is deployed.

A manufacturing fault may cause the steering wheel assembly and column to separate.

2004–2013 HYUNDAI SONATA (NF) & GRANDEUR (TG)

The bonnet secondary safety latch has a risk of being unlatched when the vehicle is in motion. Under certain conditions the bonnet can lift suddenly and block the front vision of the driver.

The transmission cooler hose was not manufactured to the correct specifications. During prolonged use there is a risk of fluid leakage, which could result in mechanical failure of the transmission.

The SRS deployment software could inadvertently deploy the front airbags when it is not necessary. There is a risk of airbag deployment when the vehicle is traveling at low speed or when stationary.

2010–2012 HYUNDAI i30

There is a risk of the ESC electronic control case being damaged in the process of assembly. The damage will result in a crack on the casing that may let moisture into the electronic components, which could lead to short circuit and ESC malfunction. If the defect occurs, a warning light will show on the dashboard and ESC function will disengage.

There may be insufficient clearance between the engine cover assembly and the fuel return hose.

A batch of throttle cables was delivered to the production line without a polymer sleeve. The absence of this polymer sleeve may restrict the movement of the cable to control the actuation of the engine throttle. This interference may increase the effort required for pedal operation and in some instances may affect the driveability of the vehicle.

2006 HYUNDAI Sonata

The recall is for the replacement of the brake lamp switch for all Sonata models manufactured within the VIN range listed above. Hyundai Motor Company Australia Pty Ltd have advised that the component mentioned has a high probability of experiencing open circuit which will result in the stop lamp failing to illuminte when the service brake is applied. As a result of this there is a potential risk that motorists following may be unaware of the vehicles intention to slow down or stop, resulting in a rear end collision.

2007–2008 HYUNDAI Elantra (HD)

Some components in the original fuel pump may be compromised by ethanol blended fuel.

The spare wheel in the FDi30 SX and SLX variants are fitted from factory with a steel wheel and 185/65 R15 tyre. The road wheels on the SX variant are 195/65R15 steel wheels and the SLX is equipped with 205/55R16 alloy wheels. In order to comply with the Australian market regulations, all the affected vehicles will require the 15' spare steel wheel to have two warning labels attached to the outer face of steel rim. The warning labels indicate the spare wheel is for temporary use only at a maximum speed of 80KPH and the road wheel should be replaced with correct size wheel to match the remainder on the vehicle as soon as possible.

Certain Tucson (JM) vehicles were produced with incorrectly manufactured parking brake (handbrake) lever assemblies. The improperly manufactured parking brake lever pawl may cause the parking brake to fail to engage.

When driving at speeds of 40-60kmh uphill through moderate corners, the ESP may activate prematurely, causing unintended deceleration of the vehicle. This is due to over-sensitive operation of the ESP sensor.

0 HYUNDAI Grandeur XG

The Left Rear and Right Rear brake pipes may have been connected to the ABS Hydraulic unit in reverse sequence. The secondary brake tube between the master cylinder and the ABS Hydraulic Unit may come into contact with the power steering suction hose.

Water ingress into the ABS control module connector block may result in corrosion to the electrical connectors, causing the ABS warning light to illuminate and rendering the ABS function inoperable.
