Due to a manufacturing defect, the mounting bolts connecting the camshaft retainer plate may not be sufficiently tightened. As a result, the camshaft retainer plate could become loose causing the engine to stall and fail to restart.

The ‘Stand Assist’ system which keeps the bike upright when stopped may not release immediately after deactivation as intended. This may prevent the rider from steering, resulting in a loss of vehicle control.

2021 YAMAHA Tricity 155 (MWS150)

During manufacture the incorrect VIN number was stamped onto the compliance plate.

Due to a manufacturing issue, the throttle tube may break when excessive lateral pulling force is applied. If this occurs it may result in an unintended acceleration and a loss of vehicle control.

2020–2021 YAMAHA XVS950CUD

Due to a manufacturing issue with the engine crankcase, oil may leak onto the road and come in contact with the rear tyre. This could result in a loss of control of the vehicle.

2016–2019 YAMAHA WR450F, WR250F

The decibel level identified on the noise label is incorrect. This means that the vehicle does not comply with Australian Design Rule 83/00 – External Noise

2013–2021 YAMAHA FJR1300, MT10, MT09, NIKEN, XT1200

A faulty brake switch can inhibit the cruise control and constantly illuminate the rear brake lights.

2016–2020 YAMAHA FJR1300A/E, FJR1300A/P

The second gear may fail due to excessive stress loading during shifting and missed second gear selection, resulting in loss of power.

2020–2021 YAMAHA AG125L

Fuel leakage may develop at the fuel cock. Incorrect press fitting procedure during assembly may have damaged the fuel cock tube which may result in fuel leakage.

A machining defect of the primary drive and driven meshing gears results in excessive noise during acceleration and engine rpm increase when shifting through gear ratios. This is due to a mismatch of the meshing gear components.

2014–2017 YAMAHA MW125F & MW125AF

The primary fixed sheave nut may loosen during riding due to inadequate tightening torque of the nut. If the nut loosens off, the primary sheave may contact the crank case cover, causing noise from the engine assembly and possible engine stalling.

2013–2017 YAMAHA MT09 VARIANTS & XSR900

The lower handlebar holder may have been manufactured with improper paint application. Additionally, thread locking agent may not have been adequately applied to the stud bolt thread in the lower handlebar holder. Strong external impact may abrade the paint film causing axial force on the stud bolt.

1. Engine vibration transmitted to the fuel tank may cause the spot weld of the bracket to break. 2. Corrosion of the switch electrical terminals may develop due to water contamination, causing a loss of electrical power.

The main switch wire lead is routed near a metal cable guide located on the steering head. Through normal use, there is a possibility that the wire lead may be worn by the metal guide.

The clutch pressure plate bearing may fail when operated frequently. The oil pump drive gear may break due to excessive stress.

The handle crown on some YZF-R3A models may crack under normal riding conditions due to a casting problem that occurred during the manufacturing process.

When the handlebars are turned from left to right the headlight lead wire may become stretched due to the insufficient length of the headlight lead wire. With repetition, the headlight coupler may become disconnected or the headlight lead wire may break near the coupler causing the headlight to turn off while riding.

Abnormally high oil pressure may build up inside the oil pump. This may cause the oil pump to malfunction.

On affected models, the ground joint connector of the wire harness could overheat and become deformed, possibly causing an intermittent ground wire connection.

When the motorcycle is ridden with either the Genuine Yamaha Accessory Aluminium Top Case (23P-W0754-00) or a similar aftermarket product, the Base box may develop a crack and eventually break.

The circuit resistance of the Accelorator Position Sensor (APS) and Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) in the wire harness may increase due to a defective ground connection between APS/TPS and ECU. Under this condition, incorrect electrical signals may be transmitted to the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and resulting in unstable engine idle speed and/or display malfunction codes (50 and/or 60).

It is possible that the rear suspension may collapse during riding due to the bearing installation part of the suspension arm breaking. It could become damaged by a stress corrosion crack that is caused by a remaining stress at the bearing press filling part and a corrosive attack on the surface of the stressed area by a corrosive agent such as that which is used to melt snow.

Due to the material of the fuel pump seal, a crack may develop on the fuel pump seal. In an extreme case, the fuel pump seal may lose its sealing ability, resulting in fuel leakage from the fuel tank.

The lead wires for the pick-up coil may break while the engine is running, which would cause the engine to stall and not be able to be restarted.

Subsequent to the initial recall notice, it has been found the remedy has insufficient safety margin to correct the problem. This applies to XVS650 and XVS1100 models only. The factory has produced new parts to change the strength of the mounting hardware.
