Category: Light Vehicle · Supplier: Subaru (Aust) Ltd.
Recall date: 20 December 2017
Some replacement passenger front airbag inflators installed in MY 2004-2007 Impreza vehicles as part of the current Takata recall campaign (SI0277) may have been installed incorrectly (in reverse).
In the event of an accident warranting airbag deployment, the passenger side front airbag may not deploy as designed, posing a higher risk of injury to the front passenger.
Known owners will be contacted by mail and advised to present their vehicle to their preferred Subaru Retailer for inspection at no charge. With this Recall, Subaru will be carrying out a quality assurance program where: a) replacement inflators installed in affected vehicles will be inspected to determine whether they have been installed correctly, and b) if found to have been installed incorrectly, removed and replaced with a correctly installed new replacement inflator.
