Defect

As part of a minor design change introduced in November 2001, spring washers for the rear axle U-bolts were deleted in production. Road vibration and rear axle torque generated during acceleration and braking can cause the retaining nuts on the rear axle to malfunction.

All owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by letter. For further information contact your authorised Toyota dealer.
