Defect

Certain Volkswagen Passat, Golf and Arteon models of a limited production period may have had the rear wheel bearing housing manufactured with an insufficient case hardening.

Hazard

A possible fracture of a wheel bearing housing could significantly impair the road holding of the vehicle, posing an accident hazard to the vehicle occupants.

Remedy

Owners will be contacted by direct mail. Owners should contact their nearest Volkswagen dealership to arrange an inspection and repair of the vehicle. For further information, consumers can contact their local Volkswagen Authorised Service Centre or contact Volkswagen Customer Care on 1800 607 822.
