Category: Light Vehicle · Supplier: MERCEDES-BENZ AUSTRALIA/PACIFIC PTY LTD
Recall date: 17 May 2022
The sealing of the brake booster may reduce due to corrosion. The corrosion might lead to leakage of the brake booster and a reduction in braking performance. In cases of very severe corrosion, hard braking may damage the brake booster resulting in a reduction of braking performance.
A reduction in braking performance could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.
WARNING: Stop driving your vehicle immediately and contact an authorised Mercedes-Benz service centre to arrange for an inspection as soon as possible. Mercedes-Benz Authorised Service Centres will perform a visual inspection on your vehicle and if signs of advanced corrosion are present, will perform a guided diagnostic test. Replacement will be required if the brake booster does not pass this test. Mercedes-Benz will work with owners to arrange an alternate transport solution until the affected parts are replaced. Owners should contact their nearest authorised Mercedes-Benz service centre to arrange for an inspection as soon as possible.
