Defect

Due to a manufacturing defect, the oil supply to the rear axle drive shaft bearing may not meet specification. As a result, the bearing may overheat and seize causing a loss of motive power whilst driving and/or an oil leak from the rear axle.

Hazard

A loss of motive power and/or an oil leak onto the road could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and other road users.

Remedy

Owners of affected vehicles can contact their most convenient Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the vehicle repaired, free of charge.
