2021–2023 FREIGHTLINER Cascadia Freightliner Cascadia fitted with Detroit Diesel DD16 engine

Due to a software issue with the Engine Control Module (ECM), the vehicle may release air pollutants that exceed the standards set in Australian Design Rule (ADR) 80/03.

2022 FREIGHTLINER Cascadia

Due to manufacturing defect, there is a possibility that the steer axle tie rod castle nut cotter pin is missing, allowing the steering arm to detach. This could lead to a loss of steering response and a lack of direction control.

Due to a manufacturing issue, the battery cable connection point may break. As a result the vehicle may experience a loss of electrical power and engine shutdown without warning.

The wiring harness of the fast flash bulb out warning indicator on the dash maybe defective. As a result, the warning light may be triggered even when no bulbs have failed.

It is possible that standard bolts rather than metric bolts may have been used in production to attach the brake caliper to the anchor plate at each wheel assembly. Incorrect bolts may not provide sufficient clamping force between the caliper and another plate, which could in turn lead to reduce brake effectiveness and increased risk of accident.

The steering shaft U-joint pinch bolt on some right hand drive vehicles may not have been correctly torqued during production. In this case the pinch bolt may become loose and fall out, possibly allowing the steering shaft to separate.

A plastic push-to-connect air line fitting cartridge may be improperly welded into the nylon junction block housing and could allow an air line to become disconnected. This could lead to reduced brake control, loss of service brake control, or emergency braking.
