2025–2026 KIA MY26 CL4m K4 Hatch

The rear centre seat belt anchor buckle may have been incorrectly assembled. As a result, the seat belt may not properly latch or operate as intended.

2025 KIA CL4m K4, CV1 EV6, KA4 Carnival, MQ4 Sorento, MV1 EV9, NQ5 Sportage, OVc EV5, SV1 EV3 and TK1 Tasman.

Due to a software error, the Instrument Cluster may display a blank screen or may not operate as intended.

2020–2022 KIA BD Cerato and SP2 Seltos 2.0L Petrol MPI

The piston rings fitted to the engines of certain vehicles may not meet manufacturing specifications, and could cause engine failure and vehicle stalling.

2024 KIA MY2025 NQ5 Sportage 1.6T-GDI Petrol

Due to an incorrectly manufactured High-Pressure Fuel Pipe, poor sealing of the fuel system may occur resulting in a fuel leak.

2021 KIA DE EV Niro

Due to a manufacturing issue, the high voltage battery safety plug may become loose, resulting in poor terminal contact. If this occurs, the vehicle may experience a loss of motive power, and the driver may be unable to restart the engine.

2023–2024 KIA MV EV9

Due to a manufacturing defect, vehicles may have been assembled with missing seat mounting bolts. As a result, the seats may not be correctly secured to the vehicle and could move inadvertently.

2023–2024 KIA MQ4 PE Sorento

Due to a software issue, the turn indicator light and/or the upper part of the Daytime Running Lights (DRL) may not operate as intended. This may result in reduced visibility.

2021–2024 KIA CV EV6

Due to a software issue, the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) may develop an internal fault causing a warning light to illuminate on the instrument cluster and the 12 Volt battery to stop charging. This could result in a loss of motive power.

2023–2024 KIA MV EV9

Due to a software issue, the Integrated Electronic Brake (IEB) system may not operate as intended. Therefore, a higher braking force may be required when using the Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) key function resulting in increased braking distance.

The Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU), responsible for the Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control System and Traction Control System, can remain live even when the vehicle is switched off. If moisture enters the HECU, an electrical short circuit can occur.

2024 KIA KA4 PE and KA4 PE HEV Carnival

Due to a manufacturing defect, the main wiring harness may come in contact with the steering column shaft and become damaged. This may result in the loss of power assisted steering.

2016–2021 KIA MY 2018-2022 CK Stinger 3.3L T-GDI V6

The left-hand turbocharger oil feed pipe and hose assembly may deteriorate due to heat from the exhaust manifold. If this occurs, oil could leak into the engine bay and contact hot engine components, resulting in a vehicle fire.

2020–2022 KIA DE Niro HEV, PHEV

Due to a manufacturing defect, moisture may enter into the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) in the Hydraulic Clutch Actuator (HCA). This could cause an electrical short circuit and result in a vehicle fire.

2023 KIA SG2 Niro EV

The Gear Drive Unit (GDU) assembly bolts may not have been tightened to the torque sufficiently causing it to possibly fail and result in a loss of motive power.

2017–2023 KIA Stinger 2.0L T-GDI Petrol

Due to a manufacturing defect, the High-Pressure Fuel pump may cause over-pressurisation in the fuel system. This could impair the fuel supply to the engine and result in warning light and a loss of motive power.

2023 KIA SP2 Seltos

Due to a manufacturing defect, the side curtain airbag may inflate without warning.

2021–2024 KIA CV EV6

2023 KIA KA4 Carnival 2.2 CRDI Diesel

Due to incorrect manufacturing of an engine wiring harness, a poor connection may occur at the crankshaft position sensor which may lead to a loss of motive power and/or engine stalling.

2020–2022 KIA Sorento HEV, PHEV

Due to a manufacturing issue, the seat belt pre-tensioner inflator cap may fracture when deployed in the event of an accident.

2022 KIA MQ4 Sorento, MQ4 (P)HEV Sorento

Due to a software issue, the turn indicators may not illuminate as intended.

2011–2015 KIA SL Sportage, YD Cerato, XM Sorento

If the subject vehicles are continuously operated without inspection, the engine may exhibit abnormal noise and potentially seize. This may cause a sudden loss of motive power and/or a vehicle fire.

2022–2023 KIA NQ5 Sportage, SG2 Niro, SP2 Seltos PE

Due to a software issue, the instrument cluster may fail to illuminate the visual seat belt warning as required by the Australian Design Rules (ADR) 04/06.

2020–2023 KIA KA4 Carnival

The Power Sliding Door system may not warn occupants while in operation.

2014–2015 KIA SLe Sportage

Due to a manufacturing defect, the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU), may short circuit in the event of the components being exposed to moisture. This could result in an engine compartment fire even when the vehicle is switched off. Note: The Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) is responsible for the Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control System and Traction Control System.

2007–2009 KIA KM Sportage

Due to a manufacturing defect, the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU), may short circuit in the event of the components being exposed to moisture. This could result in an engine compartment fire even when the vehicle is switched off. Note: The Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) is responsible for the Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control System and Traction Control System.

2020–2022 KIA MQ4 Sorento

Due to variations in production, a crack may develop in the Printed Circuit Board (PCB) of the Transmission Electric Oil Pump (EOP) which may lead to failure of the EOP.

2012–2014 KIA XM Sorento

The heater core element may operate at a higher than intended temperature causing damage to the electrical connector. If this occurs it may result in a vehicle fire.

2015 KIA YP Carnival & UM Sorento

The Shift lock holder may have been produced out of specification, as a result the shift lock mechanism may not return to the locked position allowing the gear selector to be moved from park without depressing the brake pedal.

2019–2020 KIA SP2 Seltos SP2 Seltos equipped with Nu 2.0L Atkinson Engine

The piston rings fitted to certain vehicles may not meet manufacturing specifications and could cause engine failure and vehicle stalling. This will result in an unexpected loss of vehicle power.

2022 KIA BD Cerato

The label with the required safety information and instructions may not have been affixed to the vehicle jack as required. This may result in inappropriate use of the vehicle jack.

2020–2022 KIA JA PE Picanto MY2020 - 2022

If the rear fog lamp is switched ON after the ignition has been switched OFF and the driver’s door opened, the audible warning will not sound.

2021–2022 KIA EV6

Due to a software issue with the Shift Control Unit (SCU), the parking pawl may fail. This could result in vehicle moving or rolling away whilst the vehicle is engaged in the park position.

2014–2020 KIA QL Sportage, UM Sorento 2015- 2020 UM Sorento, 2016- 2021 QL Sportage

Due to a software issue, the Heater Core Element may operate at a higher than intended temperature causing damage to the connector. If this occurs it may result in a vehicle fire.

2013–2015 KIA Kia Soul

Due to a manufacturing issue, the Airbag Control Unit may not deploy the front airbags in the event of a crash.

2020 KIA MQ4 Sorento and KA4 Carnival

Due to a manufacturing defect, a fuel leak may occur from the low-pressure fuel line hose clamp. If a fuel leak occurs, this may result in an engine compartment fire.

2016–2018 KIA Kia Carnival, Kia Cerato, Kia Soul 2017 - 2018 YD Cerato, 2017- 2019 YP Carnival, 2018 - 2019 PS Soul

Due to a manufacturing issue, the Airbag Control Unit (ACU) cover and the Electronically Erasable Programming Read-Only Memory (EEPROM) chip may have been produced with insufficient clearance. This could cause the airbag warning lights to illuminate and the airbags may not deploy.

2021 KIA Carnival (KA4 MY21 & MY22)

Due to a manufacturing issue, the locking mechanism on the right-hand sliding door may not latch and could remain stuck in the open position.

2014–2016 KIA YP Carnival

Due to a software issue with the Smart Junction Box (SJB) the turn signal may activate in the opposite direction of what the driver had intended

2021 KIA CARNIVAL, SORENTO

The fuel supply pipe may have been damaged during manufacturing, which may result in a fuel leak.

2016–2019 KIA SPORTAGE, STINGER

The Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU), responsible for the Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control System and Traction Control System, can remain live even when the vehicle is switched off. If moisture enters the HECU, an electrical short circuit can occur.

2020 KIA SORENTO

Fuel may leak from the low pressure fuel line hose clamp.

2020 KIA STINGER

A plastic burr may remain after the moulding process of the fuel pump's jet nozzle housing, potentially blocking the nozzle.

2019–2020 KIA SELTOS

Australian Design Rule (ADR) 25 requires an anti-theft lock to be fitted as an anti-theft preventative measure. During the manufacturing process the anti-theft lock that is fitted to the steering column shaft was not installed.

2019–2020 KIA CARNIVAL

The positive terminal on the alternator may not have been tightened to specification during assembly. Should the terminal become loose, this may increase the resistance to the alternator and may lead to heat being generated, which could result in a fire within the engine compartment.

2010–2015 KIA CARNIVAL

The fuel rail in petrol vehicles may develop a small heat induced crack, which can result in fuel leakage.

2005–2010 KIA SORENTO, CARNIVAL

The Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU), responsible for the Anti-lock Braking System, Electronic Stability Control System and Traction Control System, can remain live even when the vehicle is switched off. If moisture enters the HECU, an electrical short circuit can occur.

2019 KIA SORENTO

Due to an error in the Frontal Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) software, the braking assist function may fail when the vehicle approaches a stationary vehicle or a pedestrian.

2018–2019 KIA Kia BD Cerato MY2019-2020 Tow Bar

Due to incorrect wiring, vehicles fitted with the tow bar wiring harness may experience the hazard warning lights to become inoperative when the key is removed from the ignition.

2018–2019 KIA OPTIMA

Due to an error in the Frontal Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) software, the braking assist function may fail when the vehicle approaches a stationary vehicle.

2018–2019 KIA CARNIVAL

Due to a supplier assembly error, the seat belt buckle for the second-row middle seat may have been installed on the wrong side of the seat, thereby preventing proper use of the 3-point seat belt.

The towbar label has the incorrect load ratings specified. This may result in the towbar being used to tow objects above it's maximum weight.

The software that controls the power sliding door may not detect certain obstructions. As a result the power sliding door may not auto-reverse when an obstruction is in the door opening.

2016–2017 KIA RIO

The cable length of the rear door lock assemblies may be out of specification. As a result an active child lock can unnoticeably be inactive. This may lead to the rear doors being operable from inside the vehicle.

2016–2017 KIA CARNIVAL

Due to a manufacturing issue, the vacuum hose to the brake booster may become weak over time resulting in the potential for the hose to collapse when vacuum is applied. This could lead the brake pedal to become hard when applying the pedal repeatedly. As a result, increased pedal effort may be required to achieve the expected stopping distance.

2010–2011 KIA SL SPORTAGE & XM SORENTO

Vehicles equipped with Euro 5 R-engine, might exhibit premature deterioration of the fatigue-resistance and oil-proofing of the fuel feed hose.

The wiring harness connector pins in the Hydraulic Electronic Control Unit (HECU) assembly may corrode due to improper sealing of the HECU’s wiring harness connector. An electrical short circuit may occur if moisture contaminated with road salt reaches the HECU's circuit board. The ESC warning light may also illuminate.

Due to a malfunction during manufacturing in the heat treatment tempering process, excessive residual stress may cause a crack and separation of the right front axle driveshaft.

0 KIA SOUL

There is a possibility that during the manufacturing process of the vehicle the adhesive used to secure the steering pinion gear to the steering gear assembly had insufficient strength.

2010 KIA CERATO

The automatic transmission fluid cooler hose may have been improperly cured during the manufacturing process, thereby increasing the possibility of transmission fluid leaking from the hose.

There is a potential that during the manufacturing process that a misalignment of the brake booster centre plate and assembly jig may have occurred and caused the o-ring in the brake booster to have been deformed. This could lead to an internal leak in the brake booster which could cause the brake pedal to become hard when applying the pedal repeatedly. As a result increased pedal effort may be required to achieve the expected stopping distance.

Cracks may occur in the right hand steering arm located in the steering knuckle connected to the drag link and the tie rod.

The tensioning cable in the pretensioner in the assembly is not securely crimped.

0 KIA Magentis (MG)

There is a potential concern with the automatic transmission shift lever cable on this vehicle. There is a possibility that this cable was incorrectly fitted, and may result in incorrect selection of ‘Park’ position in the automatic transmission.

There is a design flaw with the wiring to the door trim illumination.

2009–2010 KIA Soul (AM)

There is an issue with the wiring that controls the illumination of the speaker.

2006 KIA Carnival, Sorento

There is a possibility that due to a design flaw the stop lamp switch may not operate correctly. As a result of this concern: - The brake lights may not illuminate when the brake pedal is depressed. - The brake lights may remain illuminated when the brake pedal is released. - On some occasions, the shifter cannot be moved from the Park (P) position. - The ESC light may illuminate indicating 'ESC OFF'. - Operating the brake may not deactivate the Cruise Control System.

There is a possibility the radiator cooling fan blade may break, damaging the radiator and causing possible engine damage.

The wiring associated with the power front seat may cause overheating of the circuit breaker in the interior fuse box.
